Norton Shores Fire Department recently issued the following announcement.

Ice Rescue Training

On February 9, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. an ice rescue training will occur on Mona Lake near Lake Harbor Park. 

From ice rescue to aircraft emergencies, our department trains for all hazards. If you see us out on the ice please know that it is only training. 

Ice is NEVER 100% Safe. White ice or “snow ice” is only about half as strong as new clear ice.
