Back to School Reminder

Reminder

Oakridge Public Schools issued the following announcement on Sept 7.

We are so excited to see your kids tomorrow!  This quick message is a last minute courtesy reminder on just 5 things:

LATE START TUESDAY

Tomorrow is a Late Start Tuesday.  Bus stop pick-up times and school start times are 1 hour later than other school days.

BUS STOP PATIENCE

If your child rides the bus, remember, it takes a few days to establish timely routes, especially with younger children.

NEW LOWER ELEMENTARY PARKING LOT ENTRY & EXIT

Lower  Elementary parents who drop off their child at school MUST enter the parking lot from Wilson Street.  The former entrance to the parking lot on Park Street is now EXIT ONLY.  Law enforcement and signage will be helping us out to create this new routine.

MASK ORDER & RECOMMENDATION

We ask for your cooperation on the topic of Masks.  I’m asking the community to maintain the civility and respect that you have already demonstrated on this topic that has divided many other communities.  Oakridge will be following the CDC order requiring masks on school buses.  Students will not be allowed on the bus without wearing a mask.  If they don’t have one, a mask will be provided.  Like the CDC, State of Michigan, and Muskegon Health Department, Oakridge also recommends wearing a mask in schools.  Wearing a mask reduces the chances of being quarantined.  Whether students or staff  wear a mask in school is their personal decision.  We will not tolerate teasing or bullying based on whether or not someone wears a mask.  IF COVID spreads within our schools or if quarantines increase substantially, we will consider additional COVID mitigation strategies

EAGLE PRIDE

Our district-wide theme this year is Eagle Pride - Respectful, Responsible, and Safe!  Let’s model this for our children!

Welcome back to school!  Let’s make it a great school year!

Superintendent
