Finance Assistant (Full-time)
Under the direction of the Finance Director/City Treasurer and City Clerk, this employee performs a variety of financial and clerical jobs to assist in the completion of work at City
Hall. Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Verifies daily bank deposits
- Issues utility, tax, special assessment, and miscellaneous bills
- Completes monthly bank reconciliations
- Responds to questions from the public, mortgage and/or escrow company pertaining to utility and tax billings
- Assists Finance Director/City Treasurer with audit preparation and other duties as needed
- Assists City Clerk with election inspection, record management, and other duties as needed
- Attend trainings and seminars to learn specifics on software, tax law, etc.
Ability to quickly learn new concepts is highly desired. Ability to effectively communicate with the public, both verbally and in writing, is required. Ability to explain, with patience, nuanced, abstract, and/or difficult to understand billings is required.
This position has a starting range of $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, based on experience. Applications and a complete job description are available at North Muskegon City Hall.
