Enrollment at Ravenna Public Schools decreased by 2.1% compared to previous school year

There were 1,030 students enrolled in Ravenna Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.1% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51% of them were boys, and 49% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 88.4% of the Ravenna Public Schools total enrollment.

Ravenna Public Schools covers three schools within Muskegon County with its main office in Ravenna. Among them, Beechnau Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 388 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
