State Rep. Greg VanWoerkom | Michigan House Republicans
State Representative Greg VanWoerkom has been appointed to the House Appropriations Committee, where he will lead the Subcommittee on Medicaid and Behavioral Health. Since his election in 2018, VanWoerkom has focused on creating a balanced budget and responsibly managing taxpayer funds. He previously chaired the House Appropriations General Government Subcommittee during the 2022-23 term when Republicans held the majority.
With Republicans now back in control of the state House, VanWoerkom is eager to influence the state budget once more. "The people of Michigan voted overwhelmingly for Republicans to lead this body – and that means they have entrusted us to wisely appropriate their hard-earned tax dollars in ways that set our state up for success," VanWoerkom stated. "I’m pleased to have this opportunity to help streamline and best prioritize spending as it relates to health care and mental health care for our state’s vulnerable populations."
In addition to his new role, VanWoerkom will serve as vice-chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government. He will also be a member of subcommittees focusing on Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Insurance and Financial Services, as well as Labor and Economic Opportunity.
