Fruitport Community Schools recently issued the following announcement.

Here is your first edition of the winter Trojan varsity athletics updates.

Two incredible highlights from this past week that I want to point out.

1)- On Friday, our girls varsity basketball team was down 3 points with 10 seconds left. After they inbound the pass and put up two shots, Auebre Johnson got the offensive rebound and put in a layup, as she was fouled, with 0.5 seconds left. She made the free throw to complete the 3 point play to put the game in overtime. Her free throw was a perfect swish, showing that she truly has ice in her veins and the pressure of the situation did not get to her.

2)- Our bowling team competed in the OK Blue pre-season tournament on Friday. Our boys were crowned champions of the tournament and our girls came in third. The really impressive part of the tournament was game 2. Our very own Gage Wadland threw 9 strikes in a row. In the tenth frame as he was going for a 300, he threw a great ball. Unfortunately the 10 pin did not fall. He picked up the spare and threw a strike on his last ball. He threw a 279 for the game. He had the whole conference cheering for him, to bowl the perfect 300 game.

It is a busy week in athletics. We look forward to seeing you at a game.
Go Blue!
