Norton Shores Fire Department issued the following announcement on Dec 29.

At 0935 hrs this morning, Red Shift Personnel were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 2000 block of Plainfield Ave in #1 Station’s first due area. At initial dispatch, there were reports of subjects still inside the home, and there was heavy smoke showing from the residence. The first arriving unit confirmed a Working Fire, and a short time later, confirmed that all subjects had made it out of the home. 

NSFD Personnel were assisted at the scene under Automatic Aid by Muskegon Heights, and under Mutual Aid by the City of Muskegon. Ferrysburg Fire and Fruitport Fire provided Station Fills at our #2 and #3 Stations. 

The fire remains under investigation
