City of Muskegon issued the following announcement on Sept. 26.
Here is our 5th update about the upcoming Election. Currently we have 7,062 applications which is an increase of 273 applications from the last time that we posted. Please note any posts regarding the support of a candidate or false information regarding the voting process will be deleted.
It’s been a very busy week! We had many first time election workers and some with experience work along with staff to test the voting equipment and place ballots into envelopes. We want to thank all of these hard workers and we encourage them to share their experience with others.
On Monday, the first 6,732 absentee ballots will be going in the mail! Ballots will continue to be mailed on a daily schedule going forward.
Several voters stopped in to pick up a ballot the last couple of days. The office will be open 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursday to issue absentee ballots.
A huge thank you to the Clerk’s Office who worked between 50 and 60 hours this week. They are a dedicated staff that wants to see every resident vote this year.
We are so excited to announce we received a grant in the amount of $433,580 that will allow us to do many things including the purchase of a high speed tabulator to count absentee ballots on Election Day, all new Election booths, laptops for all precincts, and to promote voting. Look for more exciting updates on that in the future!
Now that ballots will be hitting mailboxes soon, we really want to emphasize to get them voted and returned ASAP. Postage is pre-paid. We also have two drop boxes at city hall and we just had a third drop box dropped off today.
We would love to hear your suggestions of where a drop box should be placed within the city limits!
