Rep. Greg VanWoerkom (R-Norton Shores) teamed up with the Michigan House and approved several much-needed bipartisan measures, according to Michigan House Republicans.

The bills are an effort to continue assisting Michigan families during the remainder of the COVID-19 crisis. VanWoerkom highlighted that thousands of families are still in need of assistance. He emphasized that families shouldn't blame themselves for needing help.

“Thousands of Michigan families continue to struggle to pay their bills, put food on their tables and meet their other basic needs,” VanWoerkom told Michigan House Republicans. “This is through no fault of their own, yet the state’s Unemployment Insurance Agency and secretary of state offices continue to be closed down. This is unacceptable. These offices must open their doors because Michiganders everywhere desperately need their services.”

Senate Bill 886, which received bipartisan approval in both the House and Senate, secures the UIA payments put in place to address the pandemic and helps families in desperate need of financial support.
