2021 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report

A3

A few Norton Shores residents have reported issues with the taste and odor of their drinking water.

Recent temperature swings of 15 degrees and significant fluctuations in the organic content of Lake Michigan can cause an increase in taste and odor issues in municipal water.

The City of Muskegon water filtration plant uses additional powdered activated carbon to help with the filtering process. Changes in taste or odors should diminish once the carbon-treated water moves through the system.

The drinking water is safe to drink and undergoes regular testing to ensure it meets all safety and quality standards.
