In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the hardship that it's causing Michigan families, Sen. Jon Bumstead (R-Newaygo) participated in an effort to help families gain access to one of the most necessary supplies that students need: backpacks.
Bumstead then helped distribute backpacks to area schools for families in need.
In his Facebook post, he wrote, "I was happy to drop off 48 backpacks full of school and sanitation supplies to Cardinal Elementary School. Thank you to Principal Brenda Hodge for the opportunity to drop off these backpacks, and thank you to Ruth Gaudard from AT&T for donating the backpacks and supplies to students in our community!"

With these supplies, students will be equipped with what they need to attend school and participate in their studies. In addition to the backpacks, the senator also helped to deliver sanitation supplies, which are more essential than ever in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
